2000 BLT Founders’ Award

Presented to the Founders of the Barnstable Land Trust for their vision, commitment and leadership.

In 2000, at the suggestion of then Board president Tom Lynch, Barnstable Land Trust established a Founders’ Award to publicly honor those who have “…the vision to empower the people of Barnstable to preserve the essence of Cape Cod – its open spaces and natural resources, wetlands, woodland and wildlife.”

The first honorees were the individuals who founded the organization in 1983 (then called the Barnstable Conservation Foundation): Robert Brown, Elisabeth “Lis” Clark, Joseph “Sepp” Dietzgen, Stephen Hayes, Gilbert Newton, Charlton “Bus” Putnam. David Rouse and Jean Whiteley. We are forever indebted to these eight people for their foresight, enthusiasm and perseverance.
