The Barnstable Land Trust Conservation Center
BLT is moving to 1540 Main Street, situated on 5.4 acres of land on Rt. 6A in West Barnstable. The property includes a large building with room for offices and meeting spaces, and offers a central location to implement our new focus on access and stewardship and providing creative, nature-based programming for everyone.
We’ve got big plans!
Our vision is for BLT’s new office to become a community hub, offering programming for all generations to connect with the land: hiking, cross-country skiing, beekeeping, gardening and shellfishing, for example. Our new home will provide a central place for the many dedicated BLT volunteers to meet, get tools, report on site visits, and organize future projects. There will be a meeting room for community members to use for workshops and events. The site also offers trailhead for nature walks through neighboring sanctuaries, places for kids to get outside and connect with the nature, and views to the Great Marsh, Sandy Neck and Cape Cod Bay.
We will be leasing the space before purchasing in March 2018. Stay tuned for campaign information.
We’re excited about this new space – and hope you are, too!
We’ve got few immediate needs for the new office and our ongoing land management work. We’re looking for a lawnmower, hedge trimmer, weed wacker, and a wheelbarrow. Please contact the office at 508-771-2585 or email Land Stewardship Coordinator Will Holden at will@BLT.org if you can help by donating any equipment or tools!
