All day, in Marstons Mills

A buffer of vegetation surrounds a large 10+ acre field at Fuller Farm, on the north shore of Middle Pond in Marstons Mills.  The field is mowed twice each year to maintain the open habitat, but the surrounding vegetation has been allowed to grow unattended.  AmeriCorps will be at the farm all day removing bittersweet, winged euonymus and other invasives growing throughout the property.  Large hollies and cedars in the back field are in particular need of being freed of unwanted plants growing over and alongside of them.  Woodland trails on the southern 10 acre section of the property also need maintenance.

Barnstable Land Trust is inviting volunteers to join AmeriCorps on this project.  Loppers, clippers and hand saws will be needed. Skilled chain saw users are also welcome.  AmeriCorps may have some tools to share, but please bring what tools you have.  And don’t forget work gloves and warm clothing.

If you would like to work alongside the team, please contact BLT Land Manager Red Bansfield on his cell phone, (508-868-1715) so that AmeriCorps will expect you, and to get directions.
