9:00 am to 12:00 noon
100 East Bay Road, Osterville
On December 2 from 9.00 to Noon a team of AmeriCorps members will be at 100 East Bay Road in Osterville cutting away invasive plants such as bittersweet and greenbriar to provide space for the growth of hollies, viburnum and rhododendrons. Staghorn sumac and purple loosestrife are targeted for removal as well. Leaves along the roadside also need to be raked up, bagged and brought to the landfill. They will also be preparing a planting bed for daylilies along the southwestern shore of the pond.
Barnstable Land Trust is inviting volunteers to join AmeriCorps on this project. The job is to be performed primarily with hand tools. Shovels, pitchforks, pick axes, rakes, hoes and loppers will be needed. AmeriCorps may have some tools to share, but please bring what tools you have. And don’t forget work gloves and warm clothing.
If you would like to work alongside the team, please contact BLT Land Manager Red Bansfield on his cell phone, (508-868-1715) so that AmeriCorps will expect you.
