Barnstable Land Trust Conserves Three Acres Abutting Bridge Creek Conservation Area

Barnstable Land Trust has protected a 3-acre parcel on Church Street in West Barnstable, called the Bridge Creek Pathways Connector, expanding the protection of land in one of the most ecologically important areas in the town.

The parcel abuts both the Bridge Creek and Meetinghouse Way Conservation lands, which total over 200 acres. This area has been a major focus of land conservation in recent decades to protect the fragile and important wetland ecosystems leading to the Great Marsh. The protected area also provides a buffer for the Cape Cod Pathways Trail, which runs along the back edge of the property. The parcel is is comprised of mixed upland forest and freshwater wetlands and wetland buffer zones.

Protection of the parcel was made possible thanks to the conservation-minded owner, and the incentive provided by the Massachusetts Conservation Land Tax Credit.
