Centerville Historical Walk

Walk to be Rescheduled: Date/Time to be Announced

This is the first of several walks that explore the fascinating history of some of our quaint villages! Historian DanielCenterville_cropped Haslam III, Vice President of Walkabout International, leads us on a walk around the former settlement of Chequaquet (“Pleasant Cove”), a farming community turned seafaring town with more than one hundred residents who were ship captains. Learn how the historic South Congregational Church was moved, view war memorials, and the homes of many prominent figures, including people who were active in the Underground Railroad and important inventors. If time permits, we’ll also visit Centerville Harbor.

The walk is approximately one mile, conducted at a casual pace to allow for several stops along the way for narration. Daniel Haslam, a San Diego historian and part-time Hyannis resident, leads historic walks throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Free for BLT members; $5 for non-members.
We’ll meet at the Centerville Library, 585 Main Street; free parking.
