Barnstable Land Trust will soon be the recipient of a gift of three parcels of land from the Doherty family. The parcels, located on Katherine Road in Centerville, total 1.47 acres. One acre is upland, composed of classic Cape Cod pine and oak forest, and the remaining .47-acre parcel is wetland. The properties lie within State Designated Priority Habitat for rare species and the wetland is part of an almost ten-acre wetland system at the headwaters of the Centerville River, one of the Town’s major wetland corridors. A wide array of species will benefit from the protection of this land.
When the gift is completed, BLT will be the steward of more than 1,074 acres in the Town of Barnstable.
