Join Land Stewardship Coordinator Will Holden and the Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee (LAPC) on a 2.5-mile hike through the extraordinary Eagle Pond Sanctuary. The walk highlights 2 unique environments: a Red Maple Swamp and an Atlantic White Cedar Swamp, both of which function as vernal pool habitats.
Learn some of the characteristics that define each locale, the vegetation that thrives there (such as high bush blueberry, swamp azalea, inkberry and ferns), common wildlife (including Yellow Spotted and Jefferson Salamanders), environmental threats, and more. We’ll also talk about potential volunteer opportunities on BLT lands and along the Cape Cod Pathways.
Meet at the Putnam Avenue parking area.
This walk is free; donations appreciated.
