Dylan Davids, 24, is BLT’s 2017-18 AmeriCorps Cape Cod service member. Dylan is working with Will Holden, BLT Land Stewardship Coordinator (and former BLT AmeriCorps service member!). He has been busy helping with our Roadside Assessment project, as well as blazing the town’s portion of the Cape Cod Pathways and the West Barnstable Conservation Area for the Department of Public Works.
Dylan grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan (outside of Detroit) and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Media Arts and Information. After traveling to all 50 states with his family, he was inspired “to pick up the torch of environmental volunteering,” he said. He joined AmeriCorps Cape Cod last year, crediting his parents with instilling in him the value of service work. Seeing what he calls “the patchwork of national and state parks” showed him the importance of conservation; as a result, he shifted his career focus to land management. Dylan added that he also realized he didn’t want to sit behind a desk all day.
“From trailblazing to shellfishing, I have loved the wealth of experiences that AmeriCorps and BLT have given me,” Dylan said. “Land management has been a great opportunity to see diverse properties. Organizations like BLT provide an amazing framework for preserving our precious natural resources and beauty.”
