Description: Two parcels on Bone Hill Road are at the gateway to Mass Audubon’s Long Pasture Sanctuary. This 1.02-acre field at a bend in the road was the first of two open fields to be protected as part of the Bone Hill Farm Project. The meadow is habitat for many species and is one of few known spots where the American Woodcock gather each spring to perform their spectacular breeding displays. The property was purchased by the Town of Barnstable with Land Bank funds and a conservation restriction protecting it in perpetuity was granted to BLT. The Campaign to Save Bone Hill Farm was a partnership of BLT, Mass Audubon and the Committee to Save Northside Open Space.
