2.20 Acres in Centerville – June 11, 2014
Purchased by the Town of Barnstable in 2013, these 2.20 acres are now protected by a conservation restriction held by Barnstable Land Trust. The buffering upland and freshwater wetlands along the Skunknett River help filter the freshwater that flows into Flowing Pond and eventually wends its way to the Centerville River.
The land, which includes an old bog, falls entirely within the Town’s Wellhead Protection Area and is within the zone of contribution to 2 nearby wells. Surrounded by Barnstable Land Bank and Town conservation land, the Tyburski property is home to numerous rare species and connects with 200 acres of protected lands owned by the Town, Mass Audubon and the C-O-MM Fire District.
