Hike Through Barnstable Sunday, October 7, 8 am-1 pm
Barnstable Court House, Barnstable
To help celebrate the completion of the Cape Cod Pathways trails in Barnstable, join us for a 7-mile hike from Meetinghouse Farm to Millway Beach! This walk will be led by AmeriCorps Cape Cod, Barnstable Land Trust and Barnstable’s Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee. Hikers will first meet at 8:00 am at the Barnstable County Complex (3195 Main St., Barnstable) and then carpool over to Meetinghouse Farm (2135 Meetinghouse Way, West Barnstable) to begin the hike. Please have your cars ready to transport other hikers to the start and end points. Wear hiking shoes and bring water, sunscreen and bug spray. Extra water and snacks will be provided at Cape Cod Community College, the midway point of the hike. The hike will take 3-4 hours, and travel through a variety of beautiful town conservation and land trust properties. Free. To register, click here.
Mushroom Walk Saturday, October 20, 10:30am-12:30pm Cotuit
Join Cape Cod Mycological Society’s Wesley Price on an exploratory walk in search of mushrooms! This was one of our most popular walks last year – we found baskets full of mushroomS. Fall Crocker Neck Walk Sunday, October 21, 10 am-Noon Cotuit
Join Professor Gil Newton, ecologist and author, on an interpretive walk through the diverse ecosystems of the 97-acre Town owned Conservation Area. Learn about salt marsh ecosystems and the flora and fauna that thrive here. Optional purchase of Gil’s guide The Ecology of a Salt Marsh: A Tour of Crocker Neck ($12) benefits BLT. Alternative Gift Market Barnstable
Saturday, November 10, 10am-4pm and Sunday, November 11, 11am-3pm
Join Barnstable Land Trust and other wonderful, local nonprofits at the 7th annual Alternative Gift Market! Hosted by the Unitarian Church of Barnstable, this event offers shoppers the ability to buy gifts and donate funds to local organizations and projects as gifts to loved ones for the holidays.
