Walks & Talks

Explore the Great Outdoors…and Learn About Nature with Barnstable Land Trust.

Early spring through late autumn, BLT celebrates Barnstable’s special places with our annual Walks & Talks nature series, a great opportunity to connect with our natural environment.

Pre-registration with the BLT office is requested, and sometimes mandatory, as noted in the linked details. Many events are free. Some have fees where noted.  Please carpool whenever possible, as parking is often limited.

Gifts from the SeaGifts from the Sea

Gifts from the Sea is BLT’s annual summer fundraising gala.

On September 9, 1995, the first Gifts from the Sea was held at the majestic Lloyd estate in Cotuit overlooking Meadow Point – 28 acres bequeathed to BLT by H. Gates Lloyd II.

Over the years, Gifts from the Sea has been held at many different venues across town – all of them with unique settings. Whether the event overlooked Nantucket Sound or Sandy Neck, or graced one of BLT’s protected open fields, the fundraiser has remained true to its vision of offering delectable foods, a raw bar (the real “gifts” from the sea!), an open bar, and unique auction items.

Our many donors, sponsors and volunteers have made this a stellar event! Gifts from the Sea helps raise annual revenue, which allows BLT to continue its mission of “preserving the open spaces, natural resources and unique character of Barnstable for future generations.”

Annual MeetingAnnual Meeting and Election of Officers & Directors

Each fall Barnstable Land Trust holds its Annual Meeting and election of Officers & Directors.  BLT Executive Director Jaci Barton reviews recent acquisitions, discusses current projects, and provides an overview of the land BLT has preserved within the Town of Barnstable.

Along with election of officers, BLT presents the year’s Founders’ Award, given annually to an individual, organization, business, or governmental agency for having the vision to empower the people of Barnstable to preserve the essence of Cape Cod – its open spaces and natural resources, wetlands, woodlands and wildlife.

There is time before and after the meeting for mingling over light refreshments.  All are welcomed to attend, but only members may vote.
