40th Anniversary Matching Challenge

You did it! Thanks to generous contributions from donors, members and the community, BLT's 40th Anniversary Challenge raised more than $37,000 and secured a $20,000 matching gift to launch Barnstable Land Trust into the next 40 years.
As we celebrate 40 years of BLT, this support will accelerate our work and help ensure that our town’s beautiful and vital open spaces remain open.
Why the urgency? Did you know that only 14% of land on Cape Cod remains undeveloped and unprotected? It’s a startling statistic that underscores the pressing need to safeguard our open spaces. Imagine if your favorite trails, fields, or vistas were to disappear tomorrow. The more land we protect, the more visible we are, the more opportunities will come our way and we will be ready to act.
The support for BLT’s 40th Anniversary Challenge will help accelerate our work and ensure that our town’s beautiful and vital open spaces remain open.
These spaces serve as havens for wildlife, places for recreation and reflection, and buffers against encroaching development. Protecting them is a critical part of changing the course of the larger environmental issues we all face — from climate change and coastal resiliency to water quality and wildlife protection.
