Giving the Gift of Time
Volunteers are more crucial to our success than ever. As a volunteer, your gift of time provides Barnstable Land Trust with much-needed resources.
BLT’s success is the result of extraordinary volunteers who devote countless hours. Although staff are responsible for ongoing operations, our work can only be accomplished with the support of committed volunteers – from board members who develop long-term strategies and provide on-going guidance and support to individuals who help with special events, land management, office assistance, technology, outreach and more.
BLT has both short- and long-term volunteer opportunities that just might be a perfect fit for both of us. If you’d like to make a difference, meet new friends, hone your professional skills or learn new ones (and perhaps expand your résumé), join the BLT team!

Land Stewardship – Get Some Fresh Air!
You don’t need to join a gym to keep in shape. If you’re interested in being outside and getting some exercise, BLT has an offer you may not want to refuse! Rewards include fresh air and camaraderie, as well as the satisfaction that comes from seeing the fruits of your labor.
The land entrusted to BLT’s care must be monitored and maintained. Stewardship falls into several general categories:
- Clean up (mowing, raking, burning, clearing)
- Invasive plant removal
- Trail clearing and maintenance
Although the work can be demanding, you can go at your own pace. You also get the chance to explore places you might not otherwise visit.
