The fire pit will be roaring as you are invited to start the New Year on the right foot (and then the left foot) with an easy hike at Pogorelc Sanctuary, behind Barnstable Land Trust’s Conservation Center on Route 6A. The short trail (.4 miles) is perfect for hikers of all ages and most abilities and includes a viewing deck overlooking Popolo Pond as well as a winding trail through marshy woodlands. Test out our new “Wander Walk” which includes interactive stops using QR codes (which are easily accessed from your cell phone) as well as a self-guided scavenger hunt which is perfect for families. This is part of the inaugural launch of First Day Hikes Cape Cod, a new collaborative effort to encourage people to get outdoors with free guided walks and activities to explore Cape Cod’s parks, trails, and natural resources. NOTE: No need to register for this drop-in event.

In the case of rain or severe weather, maps and guides will still be available for free at the front door as well as geocaching information.
