Celebrate the Solstice on Cape Cod with a free community event that will be music to your ears as the summer officially kicks-off. In a unique collaboration between Barnstable Land Trust, Cape Symphony, Cape Cod CAN and the Cotuit Library, the community is invited to bring a picnic and their own flower pots (BYOFP) to BLT’s Ropes Field conservation property in Cotuit for a participatory percussion concert that is also part of the International Make Music Day and National Pollinator Month festivities! A pollinator arts/crafts table will be hosted by the Cotuit Library from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. Free Vic Firth mallets available while supplies last. Bring your chair or blanket, and a small to mid-size pottery or ceramic flower pots (metal mixing bowls also work). Ropes Field is located at 58 Putnam Ave.
Free parking at Lowell Park ballfield at 10 Lowell Ave, Cotuit and the Town Tennis Courts at 571 Main St., Cotuit. No registration required.
*Due to unforeseen weekend weather cancellations, the Cotuit Kettleers have a last-minute rescheduled game this evening so tonight has become a “double header” in Cotuit! If the ballfield parking is full, please check out additional parking at the Town Tennis Courts/Main Street entrance (571 Main St., Cotuit) (also an entrance to a nearby elementary school). It is a about a ½ mile walk down Main Street to Ropes Field (just take a left at the Putnam Avenue intersection). Other potential locations are Ropes Beach (if you have a resident parking sticker), and the post office. You can also drop off chairs and people at one of two pedestrian entrances to Ropes Field (58 Putnam Ave, Cotuit).
Crafts start at 5:30 and Concert rehearsal starts at 6:30! Here’s to celebrating the summer solstice!
