As part of Barnstable’s Open Space Committee's annual spring walking weekend, you are invited to join Barnstable Land Trust and Jack Ahern, Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture at University of Massachusetts, who will lead a 90-minute walk on how to read “clues” to past land uses on BLT's Bell Farm conservation area in Cotuit that includes former bogs, wolf trees, and traces of succession. Bell Farm borders a nearby parcel, the Monteiro property, that BLT is actively working to preserve with the town. The Monteiro property is part of a missing piece in a very large conservation puzzle that includes BLT’s Eagle Pond and Little River sanctuaries and Bell Farm conservation area, in addition to water department land, the town-owned Mosswood Cemetery, and Lowell Park Woodlands co-owned by BLT and the town. Pre-registration is required; walk details and parking will be emailed to those who register. This is part of BLT's eARTh Connections series which is supported in part by a grant from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
