For Bird Lovers
What:  Bird Walk with BLT

Description:  Join Barnstable Land Trust with walk leader and ornithology educator, Tommy Burgess, to explore a local birding spot and take in the fresh morning air. This is on an easy trail that is about ¼ mile long and includes a number of opportunities to listen and look for birds.


For Forest Fans and Sports Fans
What:  Lowell Park Woodland Walk
When:  Saturday, May 7    1:00 pm
Where:  Lowell Park, 10 Lowell Avenue, Cotuit

Description:  Explore the Lowell Park Woodland Trail around the iconic ballpark for the Cotuit Kettleers with Gil Newton as he discusses the ecology of a mixed deciduous and coniferous forest on Cape Cod. Learn about the life cycles of mosses, ferns, and common trees in the area. Topics will include forest succession, plant competition, and plant associations.

 

For Arts Lovers
What:  Words in the Wild
When:  Ongoing including May 8 (final day of Cape Cod ArtWeek)
Where:  multiple BLT properties in Cotuit, Marston Mills, West Barnstable
Registration:  Free; self-guided

Description:  For a creative way to spend Mother’s Day, explore this unique hiking trail initiative that features four original site-specific poems penned by local poets.
