We’re excited to introduce you to our newest team member, Gabby!

Hailing from Chicago, IL, Gabby recently graduated Iowa State University with a B.A. in Political Science and Environmental Studies, and is pursuing a JD. in Environmental Law with the ambition of entering the fields of climate change law and policy or land management. Gabby grew up spending summers with her family in France, and enjoys touring National Parks, whether they be international or domestic.

During her 5 month term as a TerraCorps AmeriCorps member, Gabby will serve in a blended capacity, splitting her time between BLT and Resilient Roots as a Land Stewardship and Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator. Gabby’s service with us will focus on enhancing BLT’s volunteer property stewardship program by developing and leading property caretaking trainings, improving reporting measures, and supporting trail map creation to improve community awareness and access to trails in Barnstable. With Resilient Roots, Gabby will focus on enhancing their online engagement presence through the creation of educational videos and social media content; assisting Resilient Roots in establishing community gardens at Homeless Not Helpless residences; and help organize and teach workshops and Permablitzes (garden raising parties) and other educational events.

“I look forward to fusing my recreational and professional passions and gained perspectives, and to establishing friendships and community relationships while deepening my understanding of our Earth through this position and my future education and career,” Gabby shared, detailing her interest in supporting land trusts in the future through research-based work. She is also excited to learn more about invasive plants and restoring the land to a more natural state through invasive plant management.

When she’s not serving or in class, you can find Gabby outdoors: hiking, kayaking, camping, and climbing with her “accomplice” - her Bernese mountain dog named Finley.

We’re excited to welcome Gabby to the team and thank her for spending a term of service with us. We hope you’ll give her a warm (but socially distant) welcome if you see her out on the trails!
