West Barnstable, MA – Barnstable Land Trust (BLT) and Cape Cod Synagogue are hosting a community input session On Wednesday, October 20, at Noon at 145 Winter Street in Hyannis which launches Phase I of a larger project. Barnstable Land Trust is championing an effort to help develop an alternative design concept for the proposed development on the 40-acre Twin Brooks Golf Course, one of the largest open spaces remaining in Hyannis. The goal is to generate a community-supported vision that integrates land conservation with healthy, human-scaled development.
The public is invited to attend in person but must observe the Cape Cod Synagogue’s Covid restriction rules which require all people to be vaccinated, show proof of vaccination, and to wear a mask indoors. The presentation will also be live streamed on the Synagogue’s 3 channels as well as taped:

The Twin Brooks Golf Course at 35 Scudder Ave in Hyannis’ West End is currently under agreement with the Lennar Multifamily Communities, LLC and includes 312 new rental homes in 13 three-story multi-family residential buildings, with 468 parking spaces and a clubhouse. Of the units, 10% will be affordable. This will be one of the largest developments in Hyannis and is bordered by two already nutrient-impacted creeks running into the estuary. The developer recently received a state environmental certificate that eliminates the need for a longer state review, although the approval process will need to go through the Cape Cod Commission and the Town of Barnstable.
The presentation kicks off Phase I of the design project which is being done in partnership with Utile, an architectural and planning firm in Boston. The presentation and online survey will be available on BLT’s website by October 20th when the public will be invited to share their inputs.
