You are invited to watch the Saint John Paul II AP Environmental Science class install their innovative floating garden at Eagle Pond in Cotuit! From conception to completion, the AP EnviSci class - working in conjunction with Mullen Building, Barnstable Land Trust, Town of Barnstable and BlueBlocks Floating Gardens (via Thread Collective, based in Brooklyn NY) - is working on Year 2 of this innovative and sustainable floating garden. Drop by between 8:30 am and Noon on the Pond Path at Eagle Pond to see the process and/or attend the 10:00 am talk where students, a member of the Thread Collective, and Town of Barnstable spokesperson will share how the floating garden provides a habitat for local pond life, filters pollutants from the water, and helps prevent harmful algae blooms—all of which contribute to the long-term sustainability of Eagle Pond. Registration for the 10 am talk is encouraged.
