Celebrate Write Out Cape Cod with Barnstable Land Trust and Sturgis Library by writing a nature-inspired Haiku and submitting it to youth.adult@sturgislibrary.org. Open to all ages and abilities, the contest winner will receive a gift certificate a local restaurant/shop. Haikus are the perfect introduction to nature writing and consist of 3 lines (5 syllables - 3 syllables - 5 syllables) and the classic Japanese haikus include 'kigo' which are seasonal words referencing a certain time of year. So step outside, find your inspiration, and let nature do the talking—5-3-5 syllables at a time!
