Gardening can be quite a challenge but not every insect in a garden is a potential pest. In honor of National Fruit and Veggie Month, you are invited to join Larry Dapsis from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension who will review the common pests of fruits and vegetables in addition to the fascinating natural enemy complex that helps keep them in check. Also learn if Thoreau’s ‘devil’s-needles’ (aka dragonflies) are friend or foe: “As around the shores of a pond are seen devil’s-needles, butterflies, etc., so here, to my surprise, I saw at the same season great devil’s-needles of a size proportionably larger, or nearly as big as my finger, incessantly coasting up and down the edge of the bank …” Free but preregistration required. This program is associated with BLT's Thoreau's Cape Cod Readathon, a 2-day live event sponsored by Rockland Trust to be held at Fuller Farm in Marstons Mills on October 7 & 8.
