Matt Potvin
Land Stewardship Coordinator

Matt is originally from Tiverton, RI though spent each year as a child vacationing on the Cape with his family for his birthday. He earned his B.S. ('23) and M.S. ('25) in Biology from Bridgewater State University and fell in love with the outdoors hiking the woods of his home state of Rhode Island. At BSU, Matt rediscovered a passion for protecting ecosystems and joined a research lab focused on ecological outcomes in response to the restoration of cranberry bogs in southeastern Massachusetts. Here, he focused on a variety of organisms including plants, macroinvertebrates, reptiles, as well as his particular favorite, amphibians.

After graduating with his Master's, Matt spent a summer in Boulder, Colorado, conducting wetland assessment and monitoring for the city. He then returned home to New England for a TerraCorps service term as the Wareham Land Trust's Land Stewardship Coordinator, where he discovered a passion for community-based land stewardship. He's excited to continue that work with the Barnstable Land Trust.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys hiking, biking, swimming at the beach, and gardening.
