Celebrate the Solstice Cape Cod June 18 - 21 Conservation Community Kick-offs Summer with 11 Free Programs

Barnstable, MA (June, 2022) – Barnstable Land Trust and six conservation groups are collaborating to kick-off summer with Celebrate The Solstice Cape Cod from June 18 - 21, 2022.  Building on the popularity of #FirstDayHikesCapeCod, which welcomed in the new year, this regional celebration features eleven (11) free hikes and programs across Cape Cod providing a range of opportunities for families, children, residents, and visitors to get outside and celebrate during four days surrounding the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, which happens on Tuesday, June 21.

“Following on the overwhelming success of First Day Hikes Cape Cod, we are excited to demonstrate a new way for the community to celebrate the summer solstice.  Over four days, people will experience the outdoors with free guided walks and a variety of activities while learning more about Cape Cod’s parks, trails, and natural resources,” said Janet Milkman, Executive Director of Barnstable Land Trust. “This is a perfect opportunity for both residents and visitors to celebrate the official start to summer in the most natural way possible – outside!”

From June 18 - 21, 2022, local nonprofit conservation organizations representing the towns of Barnstable, Brewster, Chatham, Dennis, Falmouth, Harwich, and Wellfleet/Truro are offering hikes, story walks, history talks, an interactive community Flowerpot music concert, open houses, sunset beach strolls and more.  A full schedule is featured on www.blt.org/celebrate-the-solstice-cape-cod as well as on participating conservation partner websites and social media channels.  Please check individual websites for event details concerning registration, weather cancellation policies, and any changes to individual events.
