Meet Our New AmeriCorps Service Member: Kaitlyn Henderson

We are excited to welcome our new AmeriCorps Service Member Kaitlyn Henderson to the Barnstable Land Trust team. Kaitlyn hails from Rock Hill, South Carolina, and her interests include short-legged dogs and music. She plays the drums, and finds drummers in metal bands especially inspiring.

This is Kaitlyn's second year with AmeriCorps. In her first year, Kaitlyn was part of the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) program based in the Southwest, where she worked with Table Rock State Park in Branson, Missouri, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, and the St. Vrain Valley in Longmont, Colorado. During her time with Table Rock State Park, Kaitlyn focused on constructing a fire line for a prescribed burn, and removing eastern red cedar from glades to protect the sensitive ecology. With Habitat for Humanity, her focus was on a variety of projects, including home building and critical home repairs.

"I'm looking forward to learning about land management and getting some hands-on experience," Kaitlyn shared with us. Her work with BLT will include expanding on our volunteer recruitment and retention strategy, supporting Kelly with land management projects, and leading a few nature-based programs.
