Barnstable Land Trust Names New Executive Director

Mike Molnar, BLT’s new Executive Director

Barnstable, MA: The Board of Directors of Barnstable Land Trust (BLT) proudly announces the appointment of Mike Molnar as the organization's new Executive Director, effective October 19.  Molnar succeeds Janet Milkman, who led the organization for ten years and who recently retired.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike to Barnstable Land Trust,” said Justine Laugharn, Chair of BLT’s Board of Directors. “We are confident that his leadership will strengthen BLT’s role as a vibrant conservation champion in the Town of Barnstable and across Cape Cod. His extensive conservation and stewardship experience uniquely positions him to guide the organization into its next chapter.”

Mike brings 25+ years of experience in the environmental and natural resources sectors. Most recently, he served as the Director of the Coastal Zone Initiative at Manomet Conservation Sciences in Plymouth where he successfully coordinated and strategically supported multi-state and regional coastal habitat restoration efforts, delivering technical and management expertise. He has also held leadership positions at the Coastal States Organization and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

In this role, Mike will oversee the organization's daily operations, strategic planning, staff development, and land projects as Barnstable Land Trust continues to preserve and protect open space and natural resources in the Town of Barnstable.

“I am deeply honored to join BLT as it enters an exciting new era. The land trust is an inspiring institution with significant momentum and extraordinary capacity as a leading conservation voice on Cape Cod. I look forward to working with the Board, staff, volunteers, civic partners and supporters on important land conservation, stewardship, and community engagement opportunities,” Molnar said.

Mike holds a Masters of Public Affairs: Environmental Management, Policy, Science and Law from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in Ohio.

With BLT’s For Now & Forever Campaign in its final stretch and conservation and stewardship work continuing across the town, BLT remains focused on building a lasting future for the lands and communities it serves under Mike’s leadership.
